domestic security systems communications connection We offer three basic types of communications devices for connection to your intruder or fire alarm system: speech dialler, single signal path communicators and dual signal path communicators. Speech Dialler Designed for the domestic market, this plug-on device uses a conventional phone line. It can phone up to 4 pre-programmed telephone numbers, leaving a recorded message that an alarm is in progress. Single signal path communicators Digital Communicator: This device is connected to a conventional PSTN telephone line and dials the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) when any of its 8 programmed inputs are triggered. As required, the ARC will then inform the Emergency services and keyholders of the activation. RedCARE 'Classic': From your system, a RedCARE Subscriber Terminal Unit (STU) is connected to the ARC, via BT's RedCARE network. It incorporates a high security, multi path routing system, which ensures your signal gets through, even if part of the network is 'down'. It uses a high frequency, non-dial technology that continually monitors the line and response from the STU. Dual signal path communicators To comply with BS DD:243 standards on confirmed activations for communicated systems, ensuring the capability of a police response on all signals (including line break/fault), a dual signalling device is required. They have a 'primary' and 'secondary' means of signalling; ensuring that if the primary path is disabled in some way the message will be able to get through on the secondary path. DualCom: The primary path uses a fixed radio device on the Vodaphone Data Network (VDN), which is monitored at regular intervals to ensure the device is 'in signal'. This secondary device is connected to a conventional PSTN telephone line and will come into use only if communication is lost on the primary signal. RedCARE 'GSM': The RedCARE GSM Subscriber Terminal Unit (STU) is connected to the ARC via BT's RedCARE network utilising a fixed GSM mobile unit as the secondary path. It incorporates a high security, multi path routing system on both signal paths, which ensures your signal gets through, even if any part of either network is 'down'. The primary 'landline' path uses a high frequency, non-dial technology that continually monitors the line and response from the STU and the secondary 'radio' path is constantly checked for signal strength to the nearest base stations.
